Servant leadership is a philosophy and set of practices that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations and ultimately creates a more just and caring world.

While servant leadership is a timeless concept, the phrase “servant leadership” was coined by Robert K. Greenleaf in The Servant as Leader, an essay that he first published in 1970. In that essay, Greenleaf said: “The servant-leader is servant first… It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. That person is sharply different from one who is leader first, perhaps because of the need to assuage an unusual power drive or to acquire material possessions…

The leader-first and the servant-first are two extreme types. Between them there are shadings and blends that are part of the infinite variety of human nature.
It is rhetorical to ask if servant- leaders exist in Nigeria,  because your guess is as good as mine. However, before we start pointing accusing fingers to our political leaders,  let us note that this theory can be applied to every level of governance, right from family,  the head of the home is supposed to be a servant leaders,  also in the classrooms where we have class prefects,  he/she is supposed to be a servant-leader etc. If we as a people hold tenaciously unto this philosophy in every unit of leadership,  then we won't be where we are as a Nation,  cos it is the units or fragments of leadership that eventually produces the ultimate national leaders.
Furthermore, let's always be conscious that as citizens, we are all stakeholders in the  Nigeria Nation. The prosperity and Destiny of our Land solely depends on us , ONLY NIGERIANS CAN FIX NIGERIA .

Going forward, the way forward out of the mess we have found our serve as a Nation,  is to deliberately use our vote to entrench servant leadership by allowing people with such tendencies to ascend the throne of our polity. .

Yours inspirationally,
